Built for Browns Fans: Three Signature Features of Huntington Bank Field

Here we go, Brownies! With construction kicking off on the new Huntington Bank Field, see how the stadium will deliver unmatched energy and unrivaled connection to the action to create unforgettable gamedays.

“The ambition for this stadium is not iteration but invention, a design that’s the first of its kind for its fans, anchored in fan intensity and civic identity,” said Lance Evans, HKS Venues Design Director.

The Dawg Pound

The northeast end of the stadium is a tribute to the Dawg Pound. This section – which covers the entire width of the endzone, in keeping with Browns tradition – is designed to amp up gamedays for the team’s most loyal and loudest fans. The continuous, uninterrupted seating area will unite the Dawg Pound in one resounding voice, and the towering 34-degree incline will propel a wall of sound towards the field. The stadium roof and a mammoth video screen angled above this section will reflect and intensify crowd noise.

This seating area will extend all the way down to the field, so fans can interact directly with players. To strengthen the connection with players, the home and visiting team tunnels will run past the Dawg Pound.

Huntington Bank Field is bringing standing-rail seats to the Dawg Pound. These seats, inspired by European soccer stadiums, come with a waist-high railing, so fans who love being on their feet can lean into the game.

“Standing-rail seats have never been deployed at this scale in an NFL stadium. That’s incredibly exciting, because it’s not a small move, it’s a massive move,” said Michelle Stevenson, HKS Regional Practice Director, Sports & Entertainment. “It translates directly to a fanbase like the Dawg Pound, where you have so much energy.”

The Grand Concourse

This monumental space is the largest stadium concourse in the NFL. In this area, fans can enjoy regional dining options, the Browns team store and more.

On the Grand Concourse, large video screens and bars that are open to the seating bowl will keep fans engaged in the action. Savor something to eat or drink in the NFL’s ultimate sports bars while staying immersed in the excitement of the game. “This is more than a concourse – it’s a living, social street with cultural destinations. The energy of the game extends into the Grand Concourse, allowing you to step away from your seat without ever disconnecting from what’s happening on the field,” said Josh Tooill, HKS Sr. Designer.

Immense windows will fill this majestic, open space with natural light during the day. The Grand Concourse will connect directly to the stadium’s outdoor plazas.

The Outdoor Plazas

Expansive plazas will add a new dimension to Huntington Bank Field, extending the fan experience outside. “The new stadium is conceived as a collection of civic rooms and landscapes – a synthesis of Northeast Ohio’s most resonant spaces,” said Evans. “It’s a place where football, city and culture converge into a single continuous experience.”

Ticketed guests will be free to explore the park-like stadium grounds, soaking in the atmosphere and enjoying outdoor entertainment. Giant video displays will deliver extra excitement.

One plaza will be a dedicated tailgating zone that leads directly into the Dawg Pound seating section of the stadium.  Thousands of fans can get together to celebrate gameday traditions in this open-air space. “What makes the Dawg Pound special isn’t just what happens during the game – it’s the ritual leading up to it,” said Tooill. “Tailgating is part of the identity, and this space is designed to honor that energy and bring it right to the edge of the stadium.”

Rooted in Tradition, Designed for the Future

From the closest first row seat in the NFL to the closest last row seat in the league, Huntington Bank Field is designed to amplify gamedays, immerse fans in the action and make attending a Browns game an even bigger experience.

The stadium is tailored to the Browns, to celebrate the team’s proud heritage and carry the franchise forward. Stevenson said fans have a “dramatic influence” on the stadium’s design, which “honors a lasting legacy, but is also new and forward-thinking.”

According to Tooill, “The Browns weren’t interested in creating the ‘next’ of any stadium. This is about respecting history and tradition and making something for the future.”

In addition to regular-season NFL games, the stadium can host other world-class sporting and cultural events such as the Super Bowl, NCAA basketball championships, Olympic trials, MLS and FIFA soccer matches and top-tier concerts – as well as graduations and other community events. As a year-round experience district with distinctive local spirit, Huntington Bank Field will be the future site of your best memories.
